The Broadband Revamp Project Has Been Completed

At Copper Valley Telecom, we are delighted to announce the completion and launch of our Broadband Revamp project. This marks a significant enhancement in strengthening our telecommunications infrastructure.

Previously, our network relied solely on a single Internet headend in Valdez, connected to a single upstream provider in Anchorage and to the Lower 48 via subsea Fiber. This configuration presented difficulties in the event of fiber cuts or equipment failures outside of CVT’s network, which caused service disruptions for customers.

To address this vulnerability, we have implemented a dual-headend setup. The new headend in Glennallen connects to a secondary upstream provider via the Glenn Highway and alternate routes to the Lower 48. Utilizing this secondary upstream provider offers an additional internet connection, significantly reducing the risk of disruptions caused by fiber cuts, or equipment failure outside the state of Alaska.

This strategic enhancement better equips the cooperative to maintain a consistent service quality, which was not previously possible with a single upstream provider. The additional headend in Glennallen with redundant carriers and diverse routes outside of the state of Alaska provides additional protections for CVT’s network that will better serve and keep members connected.

Furthermore, as part of our commitment to improvement, we’ve transitioned to self-hosting our own IP addresses. This move resolves past issues tied to leased addresses, ensuring greater control and reliability over our network infrastructure.

With these enhancements in place, our network has undergone significant strengthening, bolstering redundancies, and even laid the groundwork for us to potentially offer higher speeds in the future!

As always, our aim is to deliver unparalleled connectivity and service excellence, ensuring reliable communication for all our valued customers. Together, we’re making connections that matter.
