What are the installation charges?

There is a $99.00 activation fee that covers bringing DSL from our central office to your service location. However, there is a tariff in effect that allows CVTC to waive this fee if a 12 month contract is signed. Any work needed within the premises including installation of a new phone line, phone jack, connecting modem to a PC, etc. will be performed at CVTC DeReg rate of $96.00 an hour plus materials.

Is the DSL modem included?

No, you will purchase the appropriate modem from CVI. Currently, the price range for modems runs about $100. CVTC allows you the choice of purchasing the modem outright or paying in monthly installments.

Are the DSL modems internal or external?

CVTC offers a choice of both internal and external modems to fit the specific customers' needs.

Do you have to sign a contract?

You are not required to sign a contract, but in signing a 12 month contract the customer receives a discount on the monthly price as well as a discount on the modem purchase. CVI does make an exception to breaking of the signed contract if the customer moves from service area due to change in employment, etc.

How are the speeds listed?

The first speed listed is the flow from the Internet, or download speed, to your computer. The upstream speed is second and is usually 1/2 to 1/5 of the download speed.

Can I get DSL through CVTC, but use a different Internet Service Provider?

At this time, we are only able to provide DSL services for our customers at cvinternet.net.
