Copper Valley Telecom is seeking a driven, analytical, and knowledgeable Systems Administrator to assist with the operation, maintenance, and upgrade of Copper Valley’s internet access network. CVT Systems Administrators are responsible for maintaining and upgrading hardware and applications systems and ensuring the security and integrity of all systems.

We are looking for someone who has experience with LAN/WAN topologies, components, and protocols including (but not limited to!) switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN. Experience working with personal computer components such as hard drives, random access memory chips, video cards and processor chips is necessary.  The ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s degree in IT (or related field) and four years of experience in computer operations, internet service provision, network administration, and/or computer programming; however, a combination of other education and IT experience may be accepted.

Copper Valley Telecom is looking for experienced, collaborative, and motivated Telecom Network Engineers to join our team! CVT Network Engineers provide engineering support for both inside and outside communications facilities in Glennallen or Valdez, AK, while working closely with the Plant and IT Departments. Together, these teams design, implement, maintain, and upgrade all aspects of the core, access, and distribution networks and associated equipment, including the design and support of services deployed via a variety of platforms.

We are looking for someone who understands the general engineering of transport and switching infrastructures, LAN, WAN, VLAN, and VPN operations, and network design principles. You should have general knowledge of TCP/IP, SIP, Sonet, Ethernet, VoIP, and hosted PBX voice service and the ability to perform basic design and troubleshooting of those platforms.

The ideal candidate would have CCENT certification, an associate degree in electrical engineering, and two years of experience in telecom network engineering; however, a combination of other education and IT experience may be accepted. Candidates with a high degree of prior experience and education may be eligible for advanced classifications (Network Engineer II or III).
